We always recommend to visit in May, June or September, just before and just after high season. Even April and October are still good months to visit Bali.

Less traffic in the main tourist areas
Yes, the weather is (normally) ideal in July and August but it can get pretty busy so if you can travel outside of high season: do it! July and August is peak season, just like the weeks around Easter and Christmas.
When does rainy season start in Bali?
The dry season lasts from April until October: less rain and cool breezes depending on the area in Bali. If you're staying at the coast it will always be quite hot but once you go a bit inland (Ubud, Kintamani, Bedugul, Tirtagangga, Sidemen,..) it can really cool down at night.
The wet or rainy season start in November and lasts usually until March. This means more rain (local showers) and higher humidity so it can get quite hot.
